RIBASIM (River basin simulation model) is the software package for quantitatively analysing river basin water balance, investigating water allocation options and evaluating the impacts of existing and potential adaptive solutions. During this free one-day basics course, we will address key RIBASIM functionalities and its application for impact assessment studies for sustainable river basin development. The course is intended for young and new river basin modellers and water resources planners with interest in modelling.
Have you ever wanted to become a water resources planner who can quantify and understand impacts on complex water management systems? Become one by joining this interactive basics training on river basin modelling and planning.
Integrated water resources management and planning requires the use of advanced modelling techniques for the evaluation of sustainable, adaptive and implementable solutions that can address critical problems such as water stress and water pollution. In this course, we will focus on the development of a RIBASIM water demand and allocation model for analysing water-related risks and impacts, and promising solutions. Following the example Virgin River basin, we will cover the basic functionalities required in water resources management and planning projects. At the end of this course, you have developed your own RIBASIM model for the Virgin River basin and have a good insight on its basic functionalities.
